Dear Dr:
I hope that you can help me as I am really worried.

I have about 4 'extra skin tags' on the underside of my tongue and what look to be some lumps. One of the skin tags is larger than the others and is red and inflammed. It is sore and painful as well, especially when eating and drinking. It looks like part of my tongue is falling off! The veins under my tongue look quite prominent too.

What could this be? Is it likely to be serious?

N.B I am a 24 year old female and I do not drink or smoke.

Thank you and kind regards

Tanya

Hi Tanya, I'm not a doctor but, I would have your Doctor check it out if you are worried. I'm sure that Dr. Joshi would say the same thing. I'm here if you need someone to talk with. Let me know what the Doctor says?

In addition, I have now developed a sore throat (unlike any sore throat I have had before)and a sore lump that I can feel with my tongue in the gap between my tongue and teeth.

Hi Tanya F, Please go and see your Dentist, and a regular Doctor. They can run some test to find
out what it is.

Hello Cat. Thanks so much for your replies.
I didn't know whether my Dr would think it was too soon to go and see him as I only noticed something was wrong on Monday. I will definately make an appointment and see him though.

Hi Tanya

Cathy is right. You should see your dentist and/or doctor. Let us know what they say.

Best wishes

Thankyou for your reply. Is it likely to be serious and will the skin tags need to be removed?
