... Spots up there nose?
When i went through chemo i invented a new side effect of my own. I got the most ENORMOUS sores up my nose. I guess the lining of the nose must be made up of fast deviding cells as EVERY chemo cycle i developed these large sores. Literaly the whole of my nostrils going up abouit an inch and half became a giant sore. & they'd just clear up before the next cycle & then i'd get more!
Now, i have a problem with spots up my nose. My nose seems to be drier than before treatment so i wonder if more bacteria settles as there's less of the wet lining to protect. I was wondering if anyone else suffers or if it's just me being a freak again?

Chelle,

Did you have radiotherapy to this area? Mine was directed at my right ear and I had a really itchy ear for months afterwards, with flakey dry skin. It's not exactly an area you can moisturise, so I just had to wait for new skin to grow. It did get better eventually, so with luck you'll find that your nose will improve soon.

Hi Jenni,
I get the ear issues too, in both ears, apparently the R/T has thinned the skin in my ear canals so i'm more prone to infection. & it's left me with granulated skin near my ear drum so the infection gets stuck behind it. But my nose problems started through chemo which i had before the radiotherapy. So i don't blame the R/T for this one!

Hi Chelle,
Have you considered the sores and spots might be cold sores? I used to get the odd cold sore on my top lip but since getting sick (and obviously run down) I am getting the most horrible cold sores up my nose. The worst is there is really no treatment that I know of. In my case the sores are so big and painfull I can't even bear a cotton bud with cream on it in my nose and yes my nose looks distorted on the outside too! I also find that dust & stuff really agrivate my nose and then come the sores. Would you be able to use a face mask at work when weighing out food and stuff? It might stop some of the irritation. If I do find something that helps I will let you know pronto.
