We have no family history Of cancer exept for my Uncle who is still living with various Cancers due to smoking and Alchohol.

I do not smoke nor Drink and I just turned 17.The last time I went to the Doctor they said I was very healthy!I just had a little bif of an enlarged thyroid(Mymom does too).

I'am a bit of a hypocondriac ever since my Uncle was diagnosed...

Does anyone have any Ideas? Worried

Choices:
Is this bad?

Hi AshiKaoru,
My drama started with finding a lump on the right hand side of my neck, although I didn't think much of it I decided to see my local GP and he refered me to a Surgeon(after a Scan & an Xray)who within the week excised the lump only to find it was Cancerous.
The drama continued on from there and I look back and think "Thank goodness I saw my GP", I realise that you don't have free (or near as much) medical in the States but I would be asking my GP for a referal to an ENT Specialist to confirm the lump or not, I found mine on the 22nd of May 2007 and am finished with my treatment but am still suffering from the side effects of the Radiotherapy and Chemo, BUT I AM STILL ALIVE.
Take care my friend and keep in touch.

Hello AshiKaoru

There are many different causes of lumps in the neck. There are other more likely causes than a mouth cancer in someone of 17 years age and your doctor thinks it is a enlarged thyroid. Please ask your doctor to help you get a second opinion if you remain concerned.

Best wishes
