I had a swollen tongue for some time and even a raised white patch on my gumline. I had a brush biopsy done and it came out negative, but my tongue remained swollen. I went about having a hard time talking for wuite some time and finally got fed up pulle dout a flashlight and self examined myself. I found lingual tonsils on both sides of my tongue, but my right side was extremely red, puffy, and the crypts were very noticeable. I went to my ENT and another brush biopsy was done on the lingual tonsil but it came back normal too. I have taken antibiotics, gargle every night, and yet it remains. It does change though from one month it will be swollen and red and the next not red but the crypts are still very visable as compared to the left side... any idea what is going on? Is brush biopsy effective? My ENT said to go home and stop thinking about it... but its hard to when I feel pain there so often... he also said that if it was cancer it wouldn't change or get beter then worse but I am unconvinced or overly paranoid...any advice?

Oh yes, I used dip for many years but have been free of the habit now for three years..

Hello Matt

I am sorry your post was missed! Have you had the tongue swelling and white patch diagnosed? How are you getting on?

Best wishes
