Hi
I am 24 year old male student in India. FOr past few weeks, I have observed a layer of white dirt covering the top of my tongue. It does not hurt but it doesnot feel good either as I can always feel. I have not yet observed bad odor. I am a frequent smoker trying to quit. I have engaged in oral sex with my boy friend. I am a bit worried if I have contracted some bacteria from his penis.
Plz help. I am very worried. I cant discuss this with my parents.

Looking forward to your reply

Hi Vishal

It's difficult to say exactly what is going on, but the best suggestion I can make it to go to your doctor. It's most likely not cancer, but why take that chance.

Quitting smoking is good for so many reasons, so "don't quit quitting". If oral sex is a regular part of your relationship USE A CONDOM EACH AND EVERY TIME and make sure that your mouth as well as his penis are clean.

Hello Vishal

It is unlikely that you have a mouth cancer. There are many causes for a white coating on the top of the tongue. Smoking, fungal infection, dehydration are common causes. Please look at these links for more infiormation on possible causes:

I suggest that you see your doctor about it.

Best wishes
