any else who may have had swollen nodes and chemo and rt - i would really love your feedback - i know everyone is different and everyone responds different but I am jsut trying to gain as much knowledge as I can from every resource - we will listen to the docs - love our ENT but lost some face in onc who missed my dad having an obvious case of thrush - when we directly asked him if it was thrush - pretty simple item he should have been able to tend to..... thanks for any feedback/thoughts!

Try not to second guess and look into things too much. I know, easier said than done - and i'm a fine one to talk!!
For me, my lymph gland (i only had one node involvement) shrunk considerably after my first dose, and then went away after that. It's important to remember that the way they feel on the inside i an exageration of there size on the inside. I've got several enlarged nodes NOW. That are noticable from the outside. But they're only 6mm internaly, and look like a marble exernaly!
My original cancerous node looked like an egg on the outside, but wasn't anywhere near that internaly.
While the tumours may be shrinking, there is going to be swelling from the R/T.
So don't worry too much. Ask your team what they think progress is - although they may tell you nothing til it's all done with!

Hello HelpingDad

Been busy this week!

While the shrinking of the tumour and involved lymph nodes is a sign of the treatment working, the converse is not necessarily true for the reasons Chelle has given. The total therapy is what is calculated to cure; the effects are not linear and proportional. So, you will need to wait till after the course of the treatment to be able to make a judgement.

Best wishes
