About 4 weeks ago a lump appeared at the side of my dads face (afterhe had been taken to a/e with a swollen tongue) he was told not to worry and to go to ENT 2 weeks later when he went they immediatly did a biopsy then 2 days later last week they called him in for an MRI then this week they called him again to see a specialist next week, I of course am really worried as this has happened very quickly and we are all assuming the worst, trouble is we all go on holiday a week on thursday if they have to remove this lump will it be done before or after our holiday or have we got to tell my dad he can't go

Hi

I'm sorry that you and your family have to go through this. The only people who can answer questions about when your dad will have surgery and what to do about your holiday plans are his doctors.

I really do hope everything turns out for the best.

Julia

Thats a tough one,and will depend on what the doctors say.Rob was diagnosed three weeks before christmas and he had all his tests and some surgery done in the first two weeks and then we had to wait while everyone went on their christmas break. If he can get his tests done before you go away i would think the holiday will be ok,but bear in mind if you are planning to go abroad your travel insurance will need to know what is happening .If he is taken ill and you havent let them know, they will invalidate his policy.

3 years ago I was diagnosed about a month before our holiday. It all had to be cancelled so that I could have my op, just depends what the diagnosis is and how urgent treament may be.
