Hi everyone! So the newest news is the worst. Doug is back in hospital and they did a swallowing evaluation. Apparently there is a little flap in your throat which allows food and water to pass through and on the x-ray, when he swallows, it opens but then closes too soon, sending the swallowed contents back up. His oncologist is considering surgery but his speech therapist said it may be permanent damage from the radiation and he may never swallow again! Has anyone else experienced or heard of this? I am so angry that they keep telling him different things every five minutes and messing his mind! Any thoughts?
Thanks, B.
