Hi,
I have a hard bump in my mouth which is located on the buccal jaw between teeth#'s 20-21. The bump is hard and doesn't move when I push it and is the size of a mustard seed. I have looked at many pictures and can not find what this could be. Please help me I am overly anxious because I used to work for a dentist and I know what the many possibilities and what ifs. I am very scared it is jaw cancer. Please help. Thanks, Dana |

I should have mentioned that the bump is about a 1/2 inch below the teeth on the jaw bone. No colored lesion just a hard bump under the gums seems to be attached tp the jaw.
Thanks, Dana |

Hello Dana
It is unlikely for what you describe to be a mouth cancer but you should go and see your dentist for a definitive diagnosis. Let us know what you find out. Hello gospelsinger
You should see your dentist as it might be an abcess. Thank you so much for your advice. I was also wondering, can I drain the abcess on my own? Cause I'm scared of dentist, and I do not have medical insurance anyway.

NOT ADVISED unless you are lost and alone in the Amazon jungle. Draining it yourself risks causing an introduced infection and it is not a cure and presumes a diagnosis of abcess from a tooth. So, NO!

*lol* @ Dr.Joshi
& if you WERE lost and alone in the Amazon, you should be more concerned about being eaten by a giant anaconda than your abcess!!! -~*Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds*~- ...Albert Einstein |
