bites in mouth?

Hi,
I used smokeless for about 13 years but have quit for about 6 months. Recently I was found to have bruxism (sp?). I started wearing a bite guard a couple weeks ago. I got a sore which lasted about a day on the upper lip area. I quit wearing the guard for it to heal but now I have these matching "mosquito bite" type things on both sides of my mouth. They are barely raised if at all and have a small dot in the middle which is red. The red can be wiped away but comes back. They have lasted for over a week now.
If they presist a few more days I will be sure to schedule an appointment but I am just trying to get through the next few days. Is there an explanation for them?

Thanks for any information and for all you do!

David

Hello David

You have most probably been biting the insides of your cheeks during your clernching/bruxing activity. Follow the advice I have given on using the 'splint of air' to stop bruxism and clenching.

Let me knowe how you get on.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Thanks for the advice Dr. Joshi!

I used a similar technique when I ran cross country and track and had success with it. Hopefully I will find the same success.

The "bites" still have not disappeared so I am going back to my maxillofacial guy who made my splint so I can avoid the referral process.

I was reading Aaron's post on the stenson's ducts and mine sounds very similar. Is it possible the splint caused an irritation with them?

As a former chewer my mind just always goes to cancer. Thanks for being here to help answer questions.

Looking forward to a splint free life!

I went to my doctor who made my splint and he said I must have aggrevated my salivary glands. He said they seemed to be working normally and to continue using the guard. Currently I am trying Dr. Joshi's method.

The "bites" have settled down now.

Just to keep ya posted.
