I have a question. My throat has been sore off and on for about a month. I have seen 4 GPs and an oral surgeon. All say my throat looks normal, though I have a swollen tonsil on the right side. It's been that way for probably 10 years. Anyway now I have this pain. Do you think I should see an ENT? All the doctors say there's no need. The pain just won't stay away! Should I be concerned? I do smoke (trying to quit)!

is there a doctor in this group who could answer some questions? I'm a hypercondriac and really flipped out. My thoat has pain nearly every day for a month and doctors brush me off. They say I'm young for cancer (I'm 35) and don't think I need to see an ENT. Has anyone else experienced throat pain for a long time? What could it be besides cancer? My doctor's think I'm insane!

As you have been a smoker for so long you could try giving up and seeing if the symptoms go away.

Thank you Tony for your reply! I am trying to quit. I started using commit lozengers. I hope they help. Any ideas what the hard boney protrusion in my left throat is? Are throat cancers usually in soft tissue? This feels like it's in the bone underneath. I don't even know if that's possible. I'm really scared sick. I know everyone on this board practacly has been where I am. I'm trying to get an appointment to an ENT. He's pretty booked. I don't have inssurance so this is really complicated.
