Efudex treatment gone wrongGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi. I developed a bad habit of lip licking that was brought on by social anxiety. I'm a very social person but have an anxious personality. I tried a number of products over a period of a few years but then went to a dermatologist to try and completely solve the issue. He prescribed me a product called efudex which is a topical steroid used to treat pre cancerous conditions. I should have done more research before simply trusting his directions but he told me to use it for 4 weeks, I've since learned that sensitive lip tissue should only be exposed to efudex for a maximum of 10 days. I didn't even have a biopsy so why he prescribed this horrible stuff for me I'll never know. It's been nearly two years now since I used it and my lips constantly burn and feel like they have developed scar tissue on the very inner surface of my lips. No lip balm works well enough for me to feel complete comfort and it has been completely socially inhibiting. With all of the new technologies and skin treatments out there, there must be something I can do to resolve this problem. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Hello Ryan Why don't you just stop the habit. No specialist dermatologist or technology is required, just stop it!
