Lump in Upper Lip

I have two questions that I would really like some input on if you have any insights to share!

1. I have a bump on the inside of my upper lip above/across from the canine tooth. It is almost at the top where the inside of the lip meets the top of the gum (or where the skin stops your tonque from going further). It was freely moveable with my tongue earlier and increased in side...it felt like rolling a bb around inside my lip. It got bigger and then smaller now I do believe but it has caught my attention. I can still move it around with my finger (which I probably shouldn't be doing!). I noticed it about 3 weeks ago. I also notice that there are other small little "bb's" up there on both sides of my mouth. Does anyone know what these things are? (Salivary ducts??) Why I may have inflammed one? If this sounds like anything serious?

2. I noticed a clear, maybe slightly whitish spot (about 1 mm, maybe slightly larger) on my gum at about the teeth line. During my 8 minute dental cleaning last week (that's right, only 8 minutes in the chair) the dentist said I may have some mechanical abrasion from my bite guard which I informed her that a) does not go past the mid line on the teeth and b) I do not wear anymore after Dr. Joshi's advice on the air splint. So I am just looking for suggestions on what this might sound like. The area does not appear discolored to me and the bump in completely circular and has been there a few weeks. Please let me know with any ideas.

So needless to say, Wednesday I try out my new dentist. Please please offer any ideas. I chewed for 13 years (am only 29 but I know age is not really a factor) and have become focused on early detection since quitting...only because I cannot go back in time!

Best Wishes!
David

Hello David

Minor salivary glands and sebaceous glands are the likely suspects but I am unable to say what it may be, but it doesn't sound like a mouth cancer. Let us know what your dentist says.

Best wishes

I went to my new dentist Friday and he said the same thing about the lump in my lip. It seems to be getting smaller and he seemed to have trouble finding it. But said probably a gland thing.
He did not see the irritation I was talking about but noticed it when I mentioned it. He did Vizilite (for free) to double check and nothing showed. He just said to keep an eye on it.

Any suggestions for helping mouth sores heal?

Hello runner10

Most mouth ulcers heal within two weeks or so. You can find out more about them and various treatment people have tried at MouthUlcers.org

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
