Ulcer and lump on throat - am I just freaking myself out?

Hey folks. I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on this:

About a month ago I noticed a lump on the right ride of my throat and it was slightly uncomfortable to swallow which led me to the conclusion that it was just a common gland issue (I'd had them before) but a few days later a Ulcer appeared on the same side of the face about 2 inches above it. I continued without looking into it but a month on I was getting alittle concerned so I Googled it and stumbled across a tonne of websites that scared the hell out of me and and then came across "Alans Story" here.

Im now really quiet worried and havent slept properly in days. Is this something I should rush to the doctor with or should I see how it goes over the next week or so?

Im a 21 year old male, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Hello Borrock

It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the Internet. You should go and see your doctor about it as soon as you can! Banghead

If it is a cancer you will be glad you didn't delay (anymore?) and if it isn't you will be even more glad! Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Good Morning Borrock,
You are worried about these bumps and lumps so fix an appointment to see your dentist or doctor. The usual advice is "if any changes take place within your mouth and don't clear up either on their own or with over the counter medication within three weeks see your dentist or doctor"
The lumps are probably something which can be dealt with quite easily but no one can afford to take the risk.
Delay in seeking advice can result in a relatively minor problem escalating to become a major problem, many people on this web site learned that to their cost...including me.
