Thickening saliva in throatGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi I have now had 8 radiotherapy treatments and generally feel OK.Still feel slightly panicky with the mask as it's so tight, but I get them to turn the music up really loud and it helps! My one problem is that my mouth started to feel dry after only two treatments. Now the saliva feels thicker and it seems to be gathering at back of throat. This is worst at night and when I wake in the morning it just makes me want to retch. I spoke to the radiographer and she said it's fairly common to get it in the throat. Has anyone else had this feeling and was anything helpful?

Sanjan, I am afraid everyone who has this trestyment goes through this. My bed time routine was to take up a plastic bowel tissues and medication. I would wake several times in the night and retch,(still do sometimes) talk to your oncologist and he will prescribe something for you. Read all the stuff on mucostitis it will help. Keep smiling!
