Facial hair after radio
 Login/Join

Following on from my radio treatment,my face is healing well and skin tone has nearly blended in with the rest,my only problem is,one half is completely smooth from the radio whilst the other half is sort of shadowy after shaving.
Will the hair grow back or is this a permanent thing?

The Rad doc can look at your chart and give you a pretty good idea. As for myself my neck under my chin is smooth as a new born baby. i am quite happy with that. On the back of my neck it was also smooth, but after a couple of months or so had some fuzz and most of it came back. It was funny when someone asked me how come my barber got mad at me cause she sure gave you a bad haircut.... i just laughed. i have only shared my venture with my immediate family and my aunt and one of my close long time army friend after my treatements were finished.

Hi Scott and Hey Pete.

Scott - Let me begin with you. I underwent the same radiation as both of you- that was eight years ago. Initially there was a change in the color of the skin and it remained for about four days, however decreasing very fast. I use a lot of face cream in the nights before I sleep and believe it or not it does work. Its been four + years now and noone can say that I underwent such probelematic radiation. I recieved a very heavy dose of radiation - much higher then what a normal person can take in his life time (I have no idea about my being normal or not!!). I guess that also accounted for the time period of four year but I am sure it will start decreasing over the next six months and by the end on a year - its back to normal.

Pete - thanks a ton for your mail - was wondering where you were. I will reply on that this evening.
Take care
Ananth

Hi Paul

May suggestion would be grow a dapper Mexican moustache, form a Village People tribute band, see the Nelsons roll in and buy the most expensive false beard on the market! Big Grin

I do know what you mean though chap. It is now 14 months since my R/T finished and there is no sign of the affected area coming back to life.

Mind you, that is the least of my worries at the moment...

Ray
