Ok, where do I begin. I first started getting these white patches in my mouth and you could rub them off and there would be a red exposed surface that would hurt and tastes metallic, as well as occasional dry lips. I assumed they were cold sores/canker sores but I get them very frequently and both doctors say that its not the case. I've been to a general practicioner and an infectious disease doctor and neither of them know what it is. I get it everywhere from my lips to the roof of my mouth. Also red/black spots appear in my mouth and tongue. I found a temporary solution of using mouthwash 2-3 times a day. That seems to cut down on the white patches in my mouth. Since neither of my doctors could figure it out I decided to do some investigation work. I read that people who take steriod inhaler for asthma could get something called thrush. I asked my doctor in an act of desperation to give me antifungal losenges perhaps thinking that would solve it. It's my second day using them and after washing my mouth with listerine I formed a blood blister on my lower left gum! I don't know if this is a result from the listerine or perhaps I noticed it when I put the listerine in my mouth and felt a sting. I really don't know what to do, does anyone have some insight into my problem? Could it be a food allergy? What kind of doctor should I see? I'm HSV2 positive, could it be that? Could it be mouth cancer?
