Bloodied Lump on Roof of mouth

Hello,

I have never been much of a worrier since growing up, I was rarely sick and have always had a great immune system when it comes to battling the sicknesses that my husband and kids have.

However, tonite, I started coming down w/ a bit of a sore throat. Before going to bed, I brushed my teeth and spat out a bit of blood... I thought I had perhaps brushed to harshly on my gums so I chked my mouth... There was blood on my tongue. Upon further investigation, I realized the blood didn't come from my tongue, but rather, from a pretty large lump the size of a medium-sized grape.

The lump is very hard and it is sore... I panicked b/c I have never had a lump in my mouth before... The bleeding upset me. Upon researching the internet, I am concerned that it may be cancerous...

Do you have an info you can pass onto me re: mouth cancers and whether or not what I have sounds cancerous?

Thank you...

Hello Jules

It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the Internet.
A very hard lump in the roof of mouth might be a maxillary torus. Sometimes trauma can make it bleed.

Please see your dentist or doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Best wishes

Dear Jules

I am aware of how difficult it can be taking the initial steps to seek professional advice regarding the cause of your symptoms.
Although going to your doctor or dentist may be daunting. It is important and vital that you consult a doctor or dentist immediately. Many of us struggle with the thought of battling sickness particularly when we have never had any illness or rarely get ill. Despite your good health it is important you consult your doctor or dentist and get a definitive answer to the cause of your symptoms. Trying to filter through the huge amount of information on the internet some of which may not be relevant is not the most affective way to establish the actual cause of your symptoms, you will only know if you seek medical advice.

Hope you post again soon

Kind Regards

Melanie
