Hello,
Last few months, I have begun to worry about my throat. Every now and then, i will feel a sharp pain coming from the back of my throat, behind and under the tosil area. it only lasts a few seconds, and goes away quickly. I also noticed a tiny red spot on the inside of my cheek. Then i tried to look as far back down my mouth as i could. I pushed my tongue down, and noticed some small white spots on the lining of my throat, behind my tongue, under the tonsil area. well, i stuck my finger back there, and noticed that area bled quite easily. :worried: Now for some facts. I've been smoking on and off since i was 19, only constantly for about a year. quit cigarettes when i was about 22. I'm 24 now, and occasionally smoke marijuana too (can't pick up a cigarette anymore because they taste so harsh). So i haven't been smoking that long. Also, we have mold in our house. Water leaked from the a/c unit in the attic, and some mold grew on the pantry walls. also in the bathroom (leaky pipe). Those spots have been covered up with primer and paint, but I feel as though I could also have a sinus infection, because of that. I feel pressure around my nasal cavities, and have been sneezing a lot, get sinus headaches. Could this an explanation as to why my throat is irritated / have those white spots? I'm scared as I don't have any health insurance, and currently unemployed. Couldn't have come at a worse time. :worried: :sigh: |

Hello m80
Very short lasting sharp pains at the back of throat, lasting a few seconds could be muscle spasm pains caused by clenching or bruxing activity. The little red spot in the cheek could be a bblood blister caused by trauma (cheek biting?). Make sure you aren't clenching or bruxing ! The white spots could be mucous or sebaceous glands, or food debris, etc. Please see your doctor for a check up of your throat to reassure yourself. You might have scratched yourself by sticking your finger into the back of your throat! Hope that helps.
