Liz - Vikki's right. Get to the doctor or dentist without delay. You have a responsibilty not only to yourself but also to your children.

I hope your next posting gives us good news,

Hello Liz. Listen, you are p[robably very run-dowmn after the tramatic time you have had with your mother. Sore, bleeding gums often develop, and sores and all sorts. with a lack of vitamin C and iron. I bet you're not looking after yourself properly. I was partly raised in Glasgow so I know you without meeting you, ken hen!
No I'm just joking that last bit. But seriously, get yourself to the doctor on Monday morning. Apart from anything else if you can't get your teeth in you won't be eating and the vicious circle will start.
It doesn't mean one bit that it is linked with your mother's cancer. If it were you would be right in there and fighting it in time.
I just have this feeling that you will be OK. But for goodness sake don't take my word for it.
Keep in touch. Regards Ishbel

Hi Liz

Very often, gums get swollen owing to trauma (e.g food getting under the denture or clenching). I am sure your dentist could help by (1) easing the denture(s) to make it comfortable and avoid irritating the ulcer/hyperplastic (swollen) gum. Meanwhile keep the teeth out as much as you can. (2) If he can't figure out the cause or it doesn't improve, he will refer you on to the MaxFax people for investigation (could be anything: cyst, infection, etc, so don't start worrying needlessly!).

So , please arrange to see your dentist, as an emergency and you will be fitted in.

Best wishes

Hi Liz

If you've been sleeping with only the top teeth in, you could have traumatised your gum by clenching as you slept?

Best wishes
