Osteoradionecrosis

My partner is three years out from radiotherapy, wont do flouride trays and is quite confident that as he has saliva and bleeding gums the risk of Osteoradionecrosis is low. However he keeps getting gum infections between 2 teeth in his maxilla. Got one now - last had one about 6 weeks ago that was successfully treated with antibiotics. He is being stubborn about not seeing his dentist. I am worried about the risk of Osteoradionecrosis. What are initial symptoms of Osteoradionecrosis and when should you get worried? I have a tendency to over worry but dont want him to ignore it as from other patients accounts late diagnosis can mean quite drastic treatment measures.

Thanks for reading
Cathy
