Well I just returned from the Dentist and they informed me that a red spot on my pallet has worsened substantially since my last visit of 3 weeks. So I will obviously head off to the Dr. in short order. However in the interim I do have a couple of question that perhaps someone could answer.
I am a cigar smoker - probably soon to be ex - cigar smoker.

1. Are there any red patches on your pallet that you can get that is not cancerous?

2. Although it does not bleed about the only thing I can find seems to be Erythroplakia which apparently will lead to cancer if it is not already.

Well we are continually warned so I will have to take this as it comes but it is now scary!

thank you,

Hello Mr Cohiba

I suggest that you become an ex-cigar smoker.

There are several other causes for a red patch to appear in the palate. You need a proper diagnosis. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Thank Dr.

Yes I will become A ex-cigar smoker. I have a Appt on july 1.

I have ruled out any type of burn or food eating issue. I had three weeks between dental visits and it worsened. If you would like I can send you a picture as I was able to take a pretty good one.

Hello Mr Cohiba
I wish you well with your dr appt and hope that whatever your patch is, isn't anything serious.
My biggest wish (hope) however is that if it isn't anything serious ~ you still commit to becoming an ex-smoker ....... of anything!
Good luck.

Thank you very much for your kind thoughts.
Yes I am sure this will put me on the non cigar smoker list.

The frighting part before you go to the dr. is that everything you look up on the internet is very ugly and terrible. It like everything in the mouth is cancerous or precancerous. At any rate it is certainly enough to make anyone sane person quit smoking.

thank you
