Chewing TobaccoGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
I have been chewing tobacco for the past 1 year and 5 months. I chewed it at an average of 2 times a day and held the tobacco in my mouth for 10-15 minutes at most then spat it out. I never noticed anything till a couple months ago when I started feeling a heaviness on the left side of my chest and I had it checked out and the doc said it was esophageal spasm to which he prescribed Maalox. I took maalox for a week and felt better so I started with the chewing tobacco again and stopped with the Maalox. Now I feel the heaviness again and I feel it across the upper chest as well and I feel something on the right side of my throat. My gums and teeth are in good condition so far. I also found a white substance in the gum area where I held the chewing tobacco. I researched it on the internet and thought that it was Leukoplakia, but then the 2nd doc I went to told me that it was just firbrosis since I was able to sweep my finger across and remove the white stuff. I want to know if anyone could tell me what I might be going through and anything more any of you know about chewing tobacco from reading or personal experiences. I have also quit chewing cold turkey.
