Yes...I hate it when people don't update what happened too... I am very lucky it was sinuses (Oklahoma is notorious for allergies) and also very thankful that there was somebody here to talk to about it. Good luck to you wonderful ladies and to all cancer survivors! You are all in my prayers Smiler

I am a 29 years old and I have not had the money to take myself to the doctor. Now over 5 years after I got my wisdom tooth taken out I have a swollen pain, the pain itself has stretched through to my throat and lymph nodes. If I work out I can feel the pain as I run. I have ignored it for years. I went to the hospital and they said it was laryngitis. I went to the dentist and of course it was smaller than usual and he said it was nothing but months have passed and it Definitively is something. Please help. I am not going to Lie. I picked up some pretty serious habits in my life...but I pray to God that it it not cancer. It is on the roof of the left side and it is hard and made my face swollen. I am tired all the time and I just don't know what to do.

Hey everybody,
I have a small lump too, roof of mouth, just off center, about halfway back. BUT, I'm a student studying traditional chinese medecine, naturopathy, bioenergetics, etc. so I have some different ideas....
*could be a manifestation of a food allergy
*could be a sign that something is wrong with a particular organ or an imbalance of energy there...there are energy meridians that run through our bodies...if the bump is located along one it would indicate that. (i gotta look this up because there are TONS of points like this, not sure if there is one in roof of mouth, or what energy meridian corresponds)
*could be a sign of epstein barr virus (mononucleuosis)

I wouldn't jump to assume it was cancer right off the bat. You guys gotta calm down. There are tons of little lumps and bumps that are caused by problems stated above that your MD will never figure out.

Hello Mel1981

It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the Internet. Why don't you see your dentist when you have the swelling or else take a photo of it to help him/her understand your problem better.

The hamulus is just a spur of bone. It is not a cause of any medical condition but can feel hard and hurt if you press on it - so please don't do that as that only make more sore.

Some time pains in the throat area can be muscle pains caused by facial muscle tension (stress/clenching can aggravate this). So try an become aware of what you might be doing.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes

I have a lump in the roof of my mouth too. It seems to be a little different than the majority of lumps I have read about here. Mine showed up about 2 months ago and it comes and goes. It will appear and disappear during the day. When it is there it is painful and hard, but when it is gone it is just tender and I can feel where it was. I never feel it drain, so where does the "hard" go...is it liquid?
I am not really worried about it. I would be if it was very hard, or growing, or hurt really badly. It is not really red, it is sort of pearl colored when it is there.

Does anyone else recognize these characteristics?

Hello broompilot (Thinking)

It is not possible to make diagnosis over the Internet ... and it's not possible to even make an educated guess based on your description. I would suggest that you see your dentist but take along a photo of the swelling as it might have gone down at the time of your consultation.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes Coffee

Hi

It might be a blocked minor salivary gland. PLease see your dentist (preferably so that you can exclude a tooth infection as the cause) or doctor if it doesn't resolve in 7-10 days.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes

thanks for this. like many i've recently found a lump appear on the palate of my mouth. i've been getting myself all worked up over what could be nothing by searching on sites and finding the worse possible outcomes.
this has calmed me down quite a lot but it doesn't help facts that i'm a chain smoker and drink quite a lot which improve the chance of it actually being something more serious.
i'm hoping to go see a doctor within the next couple of weeks if thing's don't improve, but in the mean time i think i'm going to cut back on the tobacco, as that can't be good for me Smiler
once again, thankyou to everyone's previous comments that have helped me XD

Hi Sciencedude

That is interesting, but not really an advisable way of treating whatever underlying problem there might be. Please see a doctor or dentist.

Some interesting posts on here and a noteworthy mention to Dr Joshi for regularly assisting with his expertise.

I don't have a lump as such, it's more of a swelling on the left side of my hard palate which is variable - sometimes it feels quite firm and other times it reduces a lot. It's always best after waking up in the morning, as if it drains when I lie down or something. If I press around the palate area, pus comes out and smells quite unpleasant on my finger. I also have a small fistula around a socket of a tooth removed from years ago, though the palate swelling doesn't quite form around there.

I also have occasional tenderness at the top of the gum area in fornt of the teeth and furthermore, if I press against my face with a finger, about 1cm to the left of the nostril, it feels like there's liquid in there.

In the past year i've also experienced bright yellow fluid dripping from my nose when I get a cold, but this only lasts for about 20 seconds and when I lean forward. I haven't actually had that for about six months now though.

Finally, when I get a cold I get a nasty taste coming from my nasal passage and down my throat. I've also suffered muscle aches, particularly if I lie in bed too long. With my latest cold i've also suffered a blocked ear on the opposite side to the palate swelling.

I'm getting this sorted but am confused whether it's a dental issue or a sinus issue. Do these symptoms suggest either being the more likely? I'm 35 and my GP considers me in generally good health apart from this problem.

Hello Jinx

I suggest you see a dentist to make sure that it is not a discharging sinus from an infection from a tooth. If that is all clear, get the sinuses checked out by an ENT specialist.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
