Hi,

I only noticed this a few days ago but i have this slight bump on the top of my mouth, right side, close to the middle. Im quite worried but my mom wont take me to a doctor or walk in clinic or dentist. im seeing a dentist next week and ill see what they think. I just want to know if i should get this checked out? or something. Im 13 and havent done anything ( drugs alchohol ). ive been having anxiety the past month so this could just be more worrying but you know, this is strange to happen right now, a random bump which seems kinda bony. 3 cm back from my front teeth. i have braces but it isnt near them so it cant be from friction of some sort. it isnt discoloured and not visible, but im worried, a lot.

Thanks,

Justin

I'm just speculating here but after reading pages and pages of post from people with the same symptoms as myself... the mysteriousa and elusive hard lump on the roof of the mouth that seems to have appeared out of nowhere... I'm going to bank on an allergist I spoke with professional opinion that it could be an infection that stems from a variety of things including but not limited to allergies. Which would explain why the individual who had a piece of bone had a bump from infection due to it, or another individual could have an infection due to blocked salivary glands. Whereas myself, I moved to TX from IL and have run into Cedar Fever from Hell and my sinus's hate me. So I don't find it at all hard to fathom that my soft and hard pallette would join in on the protest. Dr. V what are your thoughts?

Hello, it has been some time since I wrote. The initial lump that I had in my mouth (on the hard palate) appeared to be a tori (benign lump)which women tend to form. But recently, and overnight, a new lump grew in my mouth right next to the other one. The entire roof of my mouth was so sore that I could barely stand it. I had trouble even swallowing and I kept getting this thick mucus forming. My throat hurt terribly as well. Urgent care doctor thought it was some kind of infection, perhaps bacterial, gave me vicodin for the pain, naproxin for swelling. This lump literally formed over night and felt like someone had taken a chisel to my mouth. It has started to gradually get better. My doctor wants me to have an endoscope as I have GERD/LERD. She is concerned that acid is coming into my mouth. Has anyone had this happen to them? Would really appreciate any comments or feedback...Thank you

Desi - your post must have gotten lost in the shuffle. This rarely happens and Dr. Joshi is incredibly devoted to answering our questions. Perhaps my post will push this to the top of the forum and alert him to your post.

To both you and Java1: you've come to the right place for information and support. We, along with Deb in Oz, seem to submit our questions while our Brit doc and friends are sound asleep. They'll wake up eventually and get to us.

Can't give you any specific info - I'm a tonsil cancer survivor who will be two years cancer free when April rolls around.

Hang on....

I haven't come across, or heard, of allergic reactions causing a swelling in he palate.

The new lump is unlikely to be related to Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease. Please get a proper diagnosis about the new lump from your dentist or local Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon.

Best wishes
