Do Tumours fluctuate in Size?

Hello all.....despite my best intentions I have been worrying about the lump I have in my mouth. The lump has been steadily getting bigger..and the area around more swollen. Last night it was clearly visable from my the outside of my face. It also felt really heavy like I was carrying a stone in my jaw..with a numb sensation like you get when you've been to the dentist. I went to bed with the sole intention of phoning the dentist asap. However this morning it has reduced in size and is back to how it was two days ago...a 1cm hard swelling with a red outline..it also seems to have gone more out of my mouth and into my cheek! I used to feel it with my tongue but now it's easier to feel from the outside of my cheek/jaw oh and it doesn't feel so heavy now. Is this good news..as I think I've read that a tumour does not reduce in size. To recap I am waiting for an appointment at hospital after my dentist took an xray and showed another dentist and they both thought I should be in pain/or had a trauma.
Thanks again...Hilly

Good Morning Hilly,
First of all I am not a doctor, just an old chap who has been through the mill and picked up a few bits of information on the way.
As far as I know the only change in shape a tumour is likely to exhibit is to increase in size in a rather relentless manner so your recent experience may be good news, let's hope so.But don't let this put you off following up your appointments and any prescribed treatment.
At least you can relax a little over the weekend, please let us know how you get on.
By the way you state your location as "south west"......south west where?
Keep Smiling Razzer
John

Hi John
Thanks for your comments...you know I never worry about anything..not real worry..not like this....I'm a real happy go lucky person...but boy this is taking it's toll.

To answer your question I live by the sea in Cornwall...see what I mean... how lucky is that!
