Hi
My friend Blitzbob So, what is the prognosis for the cancers that we may get? This article [WEBMASTER EDIT: LINK TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE :help: ] """Prognosis in Cancer""" helps to put the answer in perspective. """Doctor, doctor, will I die? Yes, my child, and so will I.""" Best wishes Vinod :coffee: (expresso!) Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice. Well, I've just read the article """Prognosis in Cancer""".
Obviously as a lay man there is much there which I don't understand. Indeed there seems to be an element of spirituality involved. A necessary element for anybody trying to foretell the future. Like many people when I was first diagnosed my question was """how long have I got?""". The question was out even as I realised it's stupidity. As patients we probably expect far too much from our doctors, surgeons and indeed all medical and clinical personnel. From my very limited experience it would seem that each persons cancer is very personal to them. To my simplistic way of thinking I think that each individual's reaction to their diagnosis has a direct bearing on the effectiveness of the treatment provided. Perhaps, if within our """modern""" Western society, we were more prepared to realise and accept our mortality we could cope with serious diseases more postively. Who knows a more positive attitude may well help some people to survive. Hmm, reading back it sounds very pompous and I've not really been able to express what I really feel and mean. Letme have some feed-back |

HI, How are you Pikeman, I agree with you we think the professionals have all the answer but we have to be positve that we are going to survive although it is difficult when you are going through it.
The only way I get through the day is praying I will be given the strenght to carry on. When I was told I had Cancer the only thing I thought is how long have I got never thinking of operations and the like. |

Hi What I questioned is the fact they tell you to catch it early and when they do its still horrible surgery who would think a small re mark under your tongue would cost half a tongue a piece of stomach half and arm and half a neck put like that to me it seemed the price was too high and as i had minor salivary galnd cancer under the tongue not sqaunous cell I would have been willing to leave it there as it had not grown in 7 months from dectection so goodness know show long it was there. akso as i am 62 I felt I had had really good years of full health leading a healthy lifestyle

Hi Blitz
quote:Now that you put it like that, it sounds awful. All of you who go through the treatments deserve a medal! What are the problems you are having now and how do you manage them? Hi Blitz - God you sound to have a really rough time.
I'm not sure from your posting whether you had the surgery or not. I read it as though you decided against going down that path. Thank God that we're all given the choice as to whether we accept the surgical option or not. I've read of people who've gone down the path of complementary treatments and say they've been """cured""". I would query that, once diagnosed, anybody is actually """cured""" of cancer. What do you think? |

Eileen you sound very depressed about your situation. Have you spoken to your doctor and considered some anti depressant treatment.
I know nothing can change what has happened, but you do sound very low. Have you stopped going out because you don't have the energy or don't want people to see you? |

HI Eillen, You do sound reqally down, You have had the surgery now so there is no point worrying about not having it. I used to worry about alot of things but since I have had to have another boipsy awaiting result I cannot afford to let my mind wondering if what, if only or maybe I should have done this. The reality of it is I have Cancer it WILL not go away and the bastard willl keek comming back to let me know it is still ther it is like a game of Russian Roullette has it managed to penetrate this time. I am on anti depressant but to be honest the way you feel about yourself is the key to feeling ok about the situation, I am one to talk I find it very difficult.

We make the world in which we live
By what we gather and what we give, By our daily deeds and the things we say, By what we keep or we cast away. We make our world by the beauty we see In a skylark's song or lilac tree, In a butterfly's wing, in the pale moons' rise, And the wonder that lingers in midnight skies. We make our world by the life we lead, By the friends we have, by the books we read, By the pity we show in the hour of care, By the loads we lift and the love we share. We make our world by the goals we pursue, By the heights we seek and the higher view, By hopes and dreams that reach the sun And a will to fight till the heights are won. What is the place in which we dwell, A hut or a palace, a heaven or hell We gather and scatter, we take and we give, We make our world--and there we live "Live like there is no tomorrow, Dance like no one is watching, Love like u've never been hurt" "U don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" |
