Hi to you all. I was hoping to get some advice from here. I have a white lump on my right tonsil, it has been approx 2 months since I noticed it. If I shine a tourch down there it looks like there are some other much smaller but similar white spots above the big spot and on the left side.

I went to the dentist and have been referred to a maxillofacial surgeon for a biopsy. My query is would it be better to go to an ent and be referred by my GP. I have had intermitent earache in both ears and vertigo as well for the last 5 months. I have seen the gp about this twice but they just keep sending me home saying it's not unusual. Upon my last visit I mentioned the white lump and doc didn't say anything. The lump doesn't hurt, but I have got a slightly enlarged tonsil on that side, however this is a recent development and coincides with a bit of cold. I have added a pic. Would be really grateful for any opinions. My referral from dentist was non urgent and it will be over 6 weeks till appointment.

Hello Henrybear

Ask for a referral to the ENT department as they will have more experience with the tonsil and your vertigo. They could also check out your ear pain. The white spots might be tonsiloliths (calcified debris).

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Thank you very much for replying to my post. Smiler

Yes I do get white debris trapped in my tonsils on both sides from time to time.

I will get a referral for ent and I will up date the thread after my appointment with oral & maxillofacial surgeon on the 16th Dec. Thanks again. Big Grin
