Im an 18 year old student and i just recently like a week ago was feeling around on my gums in my left upper mouth and came a cross a lump that feels to be about a cm long. It hurts when i just tap it but its not like unbearable pain it just stings when i mess with it other than that it doesnt bother me. Its firm and tender and it seems like its located under my gums rather then exposed and on top. Im very worried cause im scared it might be something dangerous. I dont smoke or do anything like that and i have some what of health gums and teeth(well i have a cavities). If you know what i should do please help me...and if it seems like nothing please let me know.
THANK YOU -angie |

Hi Angie, well the advice I and everyone else on this site will give you is please go and have it looked at. It is probably nothing to worry about but the best is to have this lump checked out. You will have pace of mind after if it is nothing and hopefully if it is somthing to worry about you will have caught it at an early stage. My primary cancer is at the base of my tongue but it was not untill a secondary tumor appeared on my neck that my cancer was picked up. If you want medical advice I am sure that Dr Joshe will also urge you to go to your dentist and have it checked.
Good luck and keep us informed Maurice |

Hi Angie
It may be a normal structure. You may find the descriptions of the normal appearances (especially Figure 1.24 & Figure 1.25) in the mouth in the article Examination Technique with Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease helpful. If unsure, or it gets bigger or hurts, please see your dentist or doctor about it. Best wishes Vinod :coffee: :coffee: p.s. yes, what's 'beat boxing' Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
