In December I had a tumour removed from the left side of my tongue and a flap from my arm was used. So far, things have gone well for me but I am a litle worried about some pinkish lumps along the line of the flap and my tongue. These seem to be within the flap rather than the tongue tissue and although they don't hurt, they feel more noticeable after I eat. Am I worrying about nothing (could it just be scarring or irritation as the swelling goes down), or is this a problem? Frankly the flap looks fairly lumpy all over but feels fine. I have left a message for my doctor but would like to get some reaasurance from someone before then if possible!I still have a number of stitches in place - op was early Dec. Any comments welcome!! 'It'll be nothing' -s are especially welcome! Thank you for your time

Hello gms

The lumps are most probably a reaction around some resorbable stitch material (at line of flap), left inside the tissue, as it is being resorbed. Let me know what your doc says.

Best wishes

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I will let you know what my doctor says, although I am not sure whether I'll be able to give a clear description to him over the phone!!

Hello again,
Just as you you said, Dr Joshi, the lumps are just where the stitches were on the outside and still are in places, inside. Thanks againSmiler
