White lump on upper lip

Abit about me, i am 17 years old, and am currently studying a levels in bradford. I have been smoking for aroughly 4years, but over the last six months i have stopped.

Just recently (month ago) i found a white lump on my upper lip, i went to the doctotors and he gave me some cream, however this cream did nothing but make the small whit lump even bigger and more visable.

i left it 3weeks to see if it would go away by itself, but well it didnt, i went to the doctors again on friday and he said that he would refere me to the hospital and he told me that it was a 'Cyst', however today when i looked in the mirror i relised that a heart beat or a pulse could be seen in my upper lip and this little white lump was moving and beating.

It got me really scared and upset..me thinking that it could be some kind of cancer as i used to smoke.

Anyone got any advice on what i should do? or even better what it could be?

Another question..Is there meant to be a pulse in your lip that you can see? Cause this has got me really worried and scared

Thanks in advance people

Hello Stella

I have replied your question about feeling a pulse in the upper lip. I don't think you should worry yourself - upper lip cancers are very rare in 17 yr old girls. Your doctor thinks it is a cyst and has referred you to the hospital. It might be a 'fordyce granule' . See this post about a similar question. Keep an eye on it but stop worrying. Let us know what the hospital says.

Best wishes
