Having pronounced lingual tonsils on both sides of the base of my tongue, one is red and the other is normal. I can get no info as to cause, cure, etc. from neither a dental surgeon nor my dentist. I am frightened having this problem for months, soaking in salt solution, seeing no improvement. What sort of medical specialist should I seek an appointment with?

Have you ever discovered what the red lesion was on your tonsil...because I have the same problem now and Im scared to hear its cancer. I am only 22 years old.
