Hi;

I 've been having problems with my throat and wondered if anyone could offer advice please.
Over the last few months I keep getting a feeling like something is sticking into the right side of throat, it makes me gag. Sometimes I can relieve it by pressing on the right side of my neck, but on two occassions I have ended up choking and bringing up blood which scared me rather.
Both times this has left me with a sore throat on the right side for a few days.
All I can see on that side is a small dark coloured indent near where the tongue is attached, with 2 small squashy lumps that I thought might be tonsil tissue. (I had my tonsils removed as a child).
I have checked my neck and cannot find any hard lumps or swelling. The only other symptom is a permanently dry mouth but as I am 57 I though this might be due to my age.
After the first bleeding I mentioned it to my doctor on a routine visit, but he could not think what had caused it.
Perhaps I am worring unnecessarily but any advice would be much appreciated. Irene.

Hi Irene

Please see your doctor again and ask for a referral to see an ENT specialist/consultant at the local hospital. Someone needs to have a proper look down your throat! Let us know how it turns out.

Best wishes
