Hello Shelley, Paul, Blitzbob and all

My colleagues and I see patients with mouth cancers daily. We try our best to help. We may know our science and be able to tell you what needs doing. But no one has really told us how they would like us to treat them.

Could you tell me, from your own experiences, what advice you would give to your doctors with regard to (1) the initial appointment for investigations, (2) breaking the news about cancer, and (3) the treatments.

Some times a cancer recurs. Frowner It is depressing for all and doctors and friends can become unsure of what to say that will help. My friend Anthony is back in hospital with a recurrence and is due for more surgery. and will likely loose his right eye. Please wish him well. What kind of support would you like, from your doctors and friends, if a cancer recurs?

Best wishes

Vinod :coffee: (black)

Hi Doctor

only to pleased to help my dentist reffered me as I said and I honestly did not expect the diagnoses unlike someone who has found a lump the way I was told is awful you will need and operation I said hold on what for if you dont have it you could be deadin seix months there was no waI would have been dead as the mark had been there for six months at least without any trouble and no increase in size I was asked to come in the next day as he had a slot on the thursday. I would like to have had time to think about it to research what was the cancer and the history of it based on what i have found since I would have elected not to have had ant treatment because it was slow growing no problem no discomfort and as i was older it would not have grown so quickly if it had grown at all as i understanmd 40 of lesions become full blown cancer perhaps good doctor with your extensive experience you could tell me whether this is right. tell me doctor whatnwould you as a doctor said to someone like me

Hi Doc
I will now sum up the way I would like to have been daignosed.

1.. Have someone with you and be told gently we think it as cancer and the options are

2... Whaterver the options are

3, What might happen if nothing is done

4.... Now go home think about things draw a list of questions because your in shock at the moment

5. This will allow patient to agree a form of treatment without feeling pressuires

6.. Oh and I would like a CT scan please I was not offered one
