Hello, everyone this is a great forum, congrats.
I hope Dr Joshi can help me with my problem.
About a week ago I noticed a small lump on the lower outer rightside of my lower gum just under
the tooth before the molar. It is very hard like a bone it appears to have a white spot towards the upper part. it dose not hurt unless I press very hard on it . In fact I cut A small hole on it when I poked it with a needle, hoping it was abssesed only to find that it was as hard as a tooth might feel. It bled very little and healed fast with a white patch and no pain now. It didn't hurt until I played with it.It dosn't move, it almost seems to be apart of the tooth, I thought it might be another tooth growing undernieth, but I know it should not be. also it seems to be pointed at the top almost sharp. Can anyone tell me what this might be? I have crooked teeth but have never had this problem previously. Also because of this I noticed A white patch on the inside my cheek on the same side. I have always had a problem with biting on my cheek for as along as I can remember. But after the last 3 days on the internet I have become very worried that this could be far more serious. please help. Thanks in advance.

Hello Ben

It could be a bone exostoses. It is unlikely to be a cancer. Leave it alone and if doesn't grow bigger or bother you, it is probably a ' discovered' natural bump.

The white patch could be caused by cheek biting. You should see your dentist to confirm this. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Thank you Dr Joshi! I'm so happy that you replied so fast, you are a great man.I hope I can ask another question of you.I don't have a habit of cheek biting but my crooked bite has always seemed to bite that side also on the left side of my cheek witch also has a white patch is it very common for these types of trama to become cancerous also the same with exostoses? By the way I am 37 years old. Thanks again. Pizza
