So I've had a bump under my bottom lip (inside the cheek) for 2 years. It didn't grow nor did it shrink. Can be felt with my tongue, or by touching with index finger/thumb.

I noticed another very small one a year ago on the left side of my mouth, didn't grow, but is much smaller. The last few weeks I felt 2-3 very tiny ones near my right side, also inside cheek, but near gum.

So today went to the dentist, he checked, this is the 3rd one checking. He tried to see if I have any saliva coming out from under my tongue by putting a paper and pushing from the bottom. He said it was dry and seemed concerned. So now I'm scared what it could be.

Im 28, used to smoke years ago, for 6 years (quit when I was 22/23 but ocassionally would smoke as a social smoker). Of course I have the worst in mind like most people. I have another apointment set up for next Tuesday with an oral surgeon that may or may not do a biopsy depending on what he finds.

Confused My mouth is pretty dry lately....

Hi MBMK. I'm totally not a doctor, but from all I've read about mouth cancers, and what I have experienced myself, the dry mouth issue is a result of radiotherapy, which zaps the saliva glands; it is not in itself a symptom of a cancerous state. If for some reason your saliva glands are not working properly, and you are getting these lumps, it could very well be blockages due to perfectly non-cancerous causes - infections of some sort.

But - go and see the doctor! if you are worried, take action!

I wish you all the best.

thank you for your reply. i wonder what is causing it. i was reading online about the reasons and symptoms for dry mouth and one thing caught my eyes was "injury to head or neck" because back in 2005 I had an injury to my neck and since then my life has changed in so many ways. Although I was not paralyzed (thank god!) I began to have a lot of symptoms all over my body.

So now I'm not sure if the bumps I have in my mouth are causing the dry mouth. Or if the dry mouth is causing the little bumps in my mouth.

"Nerve damage from an injury to the head or neck that tell salivary glands not to make saliva"
