hard lump bolow teeth

I have a severly decayed tooth on the lower right side of my mouth my sixth year molar. It has been infected on and off. Recently, about four weeks ago, I dicovered a very hard imobile bonelike smooth bump under the gums right below the infected tooth. It is about a centimeter in size. There was a softer lump of absess right above that. I have been on two courses of very strong antibiotics and the softer lump is gone, but the hard one remaines. It is where the cheek and gum line meet on the outside. I was really hoping it was abcess too, but the antibiotics didn't take care of it. I'm beginning to think it might be more serious. I want to see my oral surgeon, but he is on vacation for two weeks. What could this be? I guess you know what I must be thinking....
