No antibiotics, beacuse I'm allergic to so many they don't bother giving them to me, and no follow up appointment. It scares me how negligent they are with me...

Finally got my appt with the Oral surgery people, for November 24th, which is going to feel like forever I imagine! I'm going to try and not worry about things till then though, because it doesn't do me any good to worry!

Well, I had my appointment, and they are sending me for an ultrasound and apparently the white spots are tonsiliths, which is good news, and they didn't seem to think anything was cancer.
I did want to ask you doctor Joshi, my great grandad died of mouth cancer, tongue specifically, but my nan said that she thought it was because he'd had bullets in his mouth during the war...which seemed a little bizarre. Tell me, is this sort of cancer herditary, or genetic? My nan hasn't had cancer, and neither has my dad. I have smoked an awful lot in my life before I gave up three years ago. Am I basically doomed by my dna?

The bullets in the jaw could have caused a reaction to trauma and local irritation from shrapnel - who knows, but I wouldn't worry about that!
I don't think your risk is any greater, there is no evidence of a hereditary factor at work - otherwise there would have been a screening programme for family members of mouth cancer patients. So, you are not doomed. Celebrate, you only have tonsiloliths!

Okay! Wahay! I only have tonsiliths! Thanks dr joshi, and everyone for your thoughts and support. I shall be spreading the good word of not smoking and drinking to all the people I work with so hopefully they never have to worry about this affliction. I'll let you know how i get on with my scan.
