I have a bump on the outside of my lower lip. It is about a millimeter in diameter, not dicolored or painful. It's been there for about three weeks. It doesn't seem to have changed at all, but hasn't gone away either. It is visible when I look in the closely at it in the mirror. I was a smoker, recently quit. Everything I read about harmless lumps in the lower lip are on the inside. Mine is on the red outside. Could this be a cancer? I'm getting concerned....

Hello beth
Sorry, I am unable to tell you what it is. It is unlikely to be a cancer. Cancer of the lip is quite rare. I suggest you watch it over the next few weeks to see if it resolves on its own. A cancer would tend to grow bigger and/or ulcerate and become uncomfortable. If it doesn't get better, please see your dentist for a diagnosis. Hope that helps.
