thank you for this helpful site ..
i have a question to ask and i'm quite worried .
i,m a 28 yr old married woman with 2 children , i've never smoked or drank alcohol in any form . 3 days ago i felt a small lump on the very back of my hard palate .. its about the size of a head of a match maybe even smaller . i looked at with a mirror and its hardly visible its reddish slightly darker at the tip . it feels hard sort of like a bone an it is a bit painful when i press it lightly .
i admit i am worried , even though my husband says he had something similar a few months ago .
what can it be ?!
please answer me quickly , i really need to be reassured ..

Dear Hopeful, welcome. Wish I had a answer for you however I don't. You should make a appt with a ENT tho and find out what it is. It is stays any length of time that is..At least that way you will now and won't be on pins and needles...Best of luck to you, Keep us posted..Vicki

thank you

i wish dr. joshi would give an opinion or any other professional

my husband - after touching the small lump in my mouth touched his mouth to show me where his """ lump """ used to be - a day or so later he told me he feels a new lump ( similar to mine ) on the roof of his mouth .

could this possibly be contagous ?

Hi hopeful

It is difficult to know what it may be that you are describing. There is a bump of extra bone called a torus that is normally present in the midline of the hard palate, it may be minimal or very enlarged. For more information and pictures of normal appearances, please see Fig. 1.24 and Fig. 1.25 in this article called Examination Technique with Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease . So, it could just be a normal structure, you have just noticed recently. Let us hope so.

If you are worried, do go and see your dentist for an opinion.

Best wishes
Vinod :coffee:
