Fold of skin.Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
I've suddenly noticed an extra fold of skin has developed on the right side of my cheek in my mouth. The extra skin ends very sheer and straight, not curved or jagged. It is somewhat sensitive when touched with the tounge, but does hurt when touched by a finger. There is also a white sore on it, however I get sores in my mouth whenever the gums get damaged, such as slipping with the toothbrush. The sore somewhat looks the same. I can't tell if this could just have been something that formed by biting my cheek at night, or if it could be something more serious. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. PS: I'm a non smoker, and 22 year old male.

Hi nateb The fold is most probably caused your cheek indenting itself onto the sides of the 'cheek' teeth through clenching activity. It is often seen in 'clenchers'. The whiteness is called hyperkeratosis (thickening of skin like callouses on a farmer's palms Follow the advice given in my reply to rhinestOne, and let me know how you get on.
