Dad can't spitt out the mucus because his tongue is so small after repeated operations. He can't gargle or swallow yet either- he's working on it, but it's very slow progress. He has been lent a suction machine to try and remove the mucus, but it is so thick and elasticated that the machine can't cope. Dad, Mum and I spend hours twiddling the gunk round pink spongey spatula things and pulling at any strand we get hold of to give him relief... til the next time. He regularly uses a nebuliser to get moisture into his mouth and sprays the bicarb/salt solution into his mouth every half hour or so. It is 4weeks since he finished radiotherapy. Does anyone have ANY other suggestions that will help us with the battle of the mucus?!
Yours hopefully,
Vicki x

Ask your doctor for this or local equivalent: Mucinex info (local pharmacy might also sell it's equivalent as it is probably an Over-The-Counter product)

Dear vjn,

I been drinking the juice of beetroot and green apples. After drinking, there would still be some in my mouth which I just rinse it off. Everytime I do that, there will be chunks of mucous coming out as well. It really helps with my mucous.

Hope that helps.

Warmest regards
Sharifah
