Hi,
I went to the ENT, he said he didnt think it was something bad,He said considering that you are 20 and healthy the chances are almost nil. He said he didnt think a biopsy was necessary. He said he will check me back in 2 month till then I just have to keep an eye on it to see if it gets bigger. What a bummer I really wanted a biopsy and find out what it is. This was or that. Now two more months of waiting and watching. Any suggestions anyone?
Confused
Priya

Hello Priya

Your ENT specialist is the expert and he will be seeing you again in 2 months. You also now know who to call if you neeed to. A biopsy is only needed if there is suspicion that something might be abnormal. It is not a comfortable at the back of your throat and not done if not felt to be needed. So the news is GOOD, but you are still worried Frowner .

The first step on the road to health is to believe that you do have control and are going to be fine. The monitoring and control of your thoughts and words is very important. Visualisation and repeating daily a postive healing affirmation are very powerful tools for self-empowerment. This doesn't mean that medications or medical intervention are never necessary.

Visualization is a simple yet very powerful tool. Close your eyes and see yourself as a healthy, vibrant person. See it in your mind. See yourself going for the medical check-up and the doctor telling you everything is normal and you are healthy. SEE these pictures. The next step is to affirm this visualization. You could say """Every day in every way I'm getting better, better and better."""

If you have a religious belief, you could affirm each day that one more powerful than you (be this the Universe, Mother or Father of us) will protect you from harm and keep you well. You could say something like """I AM at peace. I know that I rest in the hands of my Creator""" If you are a Hindu and know the Gayatri Mantra, you could chant it silently. As you say them to yourself, the affirmation becomes a part of your conscious, then subconscious thoughts. Repetition will drive it deeper into your being so that it becomes a vital part of you and you no longer feel fear. The greatest thing to fear is fear itself.

Alternatively, you could be an optimist and always look at the bright side of things Smiler .

Best wishes
Vinod :coffee:

Hey, dr vinod, thats a great way of looking at things! Is there any books you could recommend that would help with the mind/body control subject? I'd love to be less anxious and more positive about my health.

Oh, and Priya, you've had good news pet, be pleased! They've done a biopsy 'just to be sure', so feel safe in the knowledge that you are being listened to and taken seriously. Let us know how you get on though! Take care Smiler

Dr.Joshi,
You are right I should be more positive. I am just a parnoid person, and my whoel family is in India and I am all alone in my dorm all day which I guess makes me more sensitive. I know the ENT is an expert and if he said I do not need a Biopsy, I guess I do not.Butthis fear is a bad thing. I will definately try the Gayathri Mantra, I know it helps.Hey I have t-shirt with the mantra on itSmiler)You are a great doctor because you give advice on emotional issues too.If I ever become a doctor I would want to be like you. Iw ill try not to worry. I know one of the lump is slightly bigger then before but the doctor said not to worry. My uncle is a doctor and he said leave the worrying to the doctor, he said leave the worrying to me.SO I guess Iw ill do that. I will let you know if something else develops.Thank you for the good wishes.
Lydia how are you getting along? What did your ENT say?
Take care
god bless
