Hi Now in my last week of radiotherapy and the last week has been bad,as regards my painful mouth and throat. I'm now having Fentanyl patches, and also Oramorph. The consultant gave me one patch and said if it's not enough, stick another one on.I didn't feel any different after the first one, even allowing a couple of days for it to work properly. So I stuck another one on and that doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference either. The Oramorph has more effect, so I am taking that too. I've read through previous postings to see what doses others have been on, but they seem to be measured in different amounts. My patch has 12ug/h although the u is more like a backward u with a longer tail.I have two of these stuck on. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a low dose and I can ask to go higher or with still taking Oramorph several times a day (5ml)this is already high. Thank you for any advice. Cheers Sandy

I suppose my reply is a bit late, but I do hope you were able to find something to better help control your pain. My brother is in his second week of radiotherapy and is in severe pain. He is currently using two fentanyl patches which he changes out every three days. The strength of each patch is 100mcg/hr. I'm not sure how that strength equates with yours, but from what I understand, his are very strong doses. Unfortunately, they don't do the trick, so he also supplements with liquid morphine several times a day. In fact, if he does NOT supplement with the morphine, his pain level is through the roof. I'm sure this info doesn't help, but at least it gives you an idea of what someone else is using.
