My dad's cancer??Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi All I'm not knew to this site I was on here regularly end of 06 into 07. My dad had cancer over 20 years ago and lived cancer free until Aug 06 when he was diagnosed with cancer in a gland in the rear of the neck. This was treated with radiotheraphy, the most that you can have, this resulted in extreme weight loss, down to 9 stone from 13 and a host of other complications which reuslted in us nearly losing in him on more than one occasion. Unfortuneatley we found out at the end of Aug that the cancer is still there, it is a 'rare' cancer and there won't be any further treatment. The cancer was discovered because my dad had blisters on his chest just below the neck and a biopsy revealed it was still cancer. My dad now has severe swelling of the face which cannot be drained and pain's him, he also has consistient pain in the rear of his neck and head. My parents don't know much about the cancer apart from it is rare and is not treatable. I just wondered if anyone else has had the blister symptoms and the facial swelling, because I'm trying to diagnose exactly where and what cancer my dad has. I no longer live in the same city as my dad and therefore do not attend any appointments with his consultant were i would be able to ask questions. Is this a lympathetic cancer or is going up inhto the head?? any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am playing a guessing game, either way we do know tht my dad has cancer that is untreatable. he is 69. Thanks in advance for any advice Dee
