First Time Poster.
I have chewed off and on for 10 years. I consider myself a Light Chewer (1 can every 4 days.) I have noticed today that I have a little red dot on the inside cheeck and was wondering what that is and if it something to worry about or go see the Dentist. I have not really felt any pain of any kind. When I rubbed my tongue against it is when I first noticed it. How soon is early detection and how late is too late detection. I have had some canker sores throughout the years and was told that I have herpes of the mouth and get cold sores on the lip and inside the mouth. The dot on the cheeck is about the size of a Blood blot when you get a pin prick. Tiny, but am concerned. BTW... I am 29 |

Hi Matthew
Your little red dot might just be a blood blister caused by clenching or chewing on your cheek without realising it while you chewed your tobacco. Please go and see your dentist about the little red dot for your peace of mind and a proper diagnosis. There is free avice on stopping Chewing Tobacco It discusses harmful spit tobacco use in a colorful and graphic format. It includes information on addiction, toxic chemicals in tobacco and snuff, medical problems from use, warning signs of oral cancer, and tips to quit. You can also access an online booklet Spit Tobacco: A Guide for Quitting designed specifically for men who have decided to quit using spit tobacco or who are thinking about quitting. It contains information about developing a plan for quitting, as well as information on over-the-counter and prescription medications available to help break the nicotine habit. Best wishes.
