Lump in lower lipGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
I've just recently noticed I have a long lump inside my lower lip under the skin. It feels like a swelling of some sort and it's kind of long and tube-like. A few years back I had went to the doctor for a swelling and was told it was a mucocele. This long lump seems to start near that same mucocele and goes further along my lip, curves a little downward and seems to get bigger toward the end. I'm making an appointment with my dentist next week, but this has me worried to death because I really have no idea how long this has been there or if it's getting bigger. I know I won't now anything for sure until I see my doctor, but I'm wondering if this presents as something benign like an absess or a swollen salivary gland or something so I can rest a little easier over the weekend. Also do most oral cancers of the lower lip present first as tumors under the skin or on top? Thanks for any help.

Hello Mike Most lower lip cancers present as ulcers so this is probably another mucocele. Hope that bhelps put your mind at rest. Do let us know what your doctor says.
