Hi

Last night I received the email below :help: which I am replying here.

"""I have chewed smokeless tobacco for 23 years with a 4 year period which I quit using it. Currently I have been noticing small white bumps on the bottom inside lip and am wondering if it could be cancer. I am also a fairly heavy beer drinker. Any info would be appreciated Confused """

Tobacco and alcohol are the most important oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer risk factors. Oral cancer is largely a lifestyle disease, meaning that the majority of cases are related to tobacco and alcohol use. There is more information in the Tobacco Risks section of the RDOC website.

The small white lumps may just be a bit of hyperkeratosis (like calluses on your palms) from friction/irritation from placing tobacco in the area for years Smiler .

:soapbox: But you should visit your dentist at once if you notice any abnormal problems or are not sure. Early detection is the key factor in treatment success! There is more information on what to look out for in the Mouth Cancer Awareness section.

Best wishes

Vinod :coffee:
