My husband is 42years old. Was a smoker from the age of 14 to 38. Now he dips snuff once a day. He recently came down with a sore throat and swollen neck glands. This was a problem for 2 weeks before I finally convinced him to see a Dr. as we are out of town. He was diagnosed with strep and put on antibiotics. Erythromiacin 250mg twice daily. During this illness his lymph nodes in his neck has been swollen. He is on his last day of meds and his glands are still swollen. He says he only has pain in his throat occasionally now. I haven't been taking his temp. He is a bad patient. Now he has told me of a lesion in his mouth. I have looked at it and it is on top of one of his bottom gums in the back where a wisdom tooth should be. It was removed several years ago. It is very faintly white but otherwise a mostly normal color gum. He told me it's only been there for a couple of days but I don't beleive him. Should this be a cause for concern or am I overreacting? My first thought was mouth cancer since he has been a smoker, is a heavy drinker, at least 3-4 beers per day and more on weekends, and now instead of smoking he dips snuff. Looking forward to your reply. | |||
