Ok, So i finnished treatment in december.
My first follow up was about 10/11 weeks after that. & i had to phone and ask for it as they had no record of an appointment being made for me. Had a C.T. base line scan 3 weeks after that. But i didn't see a dr or anything. & i spoke to my Oncy's secretary today and she says they don't want to see me for another 5 weeks.
So that would mean i'd see a Oncy just twice in 6 months!
I'm sure people on here are seen more frequently than that when treatment is first finnished.
Could they be THAT confident it isn't going to return OR am i being neglected??

Hi Chelle

That seems a bit odd to me, it's a long time isnt it. Could you not ring your Oncy, you will probably get his secretary, but voice your concerns stongly (as I am sure you can)and see what happens.

Love Angiex

ps Lovely new pic! hope job and everything still ok

How is everything Angie?
Work is great thanks. I'm back full time fom Saturday. It just me means i'll be going to bed at before 9 to compensate! Wink Still it's just what i need!

Thanks Bev! I can't wait to get back to grooming as soon as this nerve damage improves a little more! I was starting my own grooming salon the week i was diagnosed so i intend to get back to that as soon as i'm able. This cncer business is most inconvenient! *lol

Chelle,

Robert finished his treatment end of Nov and has been seen twice since then, neither of those times by his Oncologist but by another member of the team. He also had an MRI scan as he's taking part in a cancer treatment trial and the trial team requested it. There doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rules as to how often people get seen.

Rob was told he would be followed up four weeks post treatment, but when i rang the head and neck surgeons secretary today she said there were no records of an appointment .She then said she better check up on it in case he had been forgotten. On a similar note Robs notes were lost in January!!!!

Hi there!
The NHS trusts all seem to have different follow up times judging by all your replies. I saw my oncologist weekly after treatment for quite a while then monthly to 6 months. I don't see him again till Feb next year. I also saw my surgeon weekly then monthly now I see him every 2 months.
Did they ever find the notes? If you are ever concerned then you can always phone the surgeon's secretary to get more info.
Have a good weekend

Anne

Liz,
My notes were also "missplaced" on the chemo ward. Baring in ind there's about 200 yards between the cancer centre and the chemo ward Roll Eyes

Anne,
Whenever i phone the secretary she says "oh, i have no record of an appointment" and then arranges one for me.

My oncologist even said (when i finally saw her after treatment had finnished) that i should phone and arrange an appointment myself to get my C.T. results.

She also said my notes would be moved to Eastbourne as there is another H&N clinic there. Although when i asked her secretary about this the other day ashe said "oh no, we want to keep you in Brighton for now". Thats a 2 hour drive away compare to half an on hour to Eastbourne!

Looks like i'll just have to keep chasing them up if i want to be seen. Sigh

Hi Chelle

Unbelievable lost notes and appointments - it seems to be the norm.

Everything is good, except Bill is suffering extremely with constipation and through reading here seems pretty normal, he is taking movicol which seems to be the favourite.

So pleased you are doing so well and hope it wont be long before you are opening your own 'dog salon'

love Angie

Hi Angie,
Yep constipation is a nightmare.
My longest without going was 3 weeks! & when i did eventualy go i cried my eyes out! *lol
I'd rather the diarhea anytime!
Movicol was good when i could get it down and keep it down.
Lactolose was ok too. But nothing beats the traditional 5 portions of fruit and veg and i've found pro biotic drinks and yoghurts the best for me.
Has Bill started treatment yet?

Hi Chelle

Why aren't you in bed!

3 weeks! they could have taken you out to Iraq and fired you at the enemy.

Bill came home from his first lot of Chemo on Tues. He is tons better that either he or I expected. The nodes on his neck are visibly reduced, he can move his tongue much better but he says his throat keeps closing up and is very thick. If he lies down he chokes. Since he has been constipated he hasn't eaten much, no matter how tempting I try to make things or suggest things. He has always been bad at taking medication, so I threatened him with an enema. Except for being miserable and grumpy he is suprisingly well but he was miserable and grumpy before he got cancer!

Nigh Night

Angie

You joke about the enema - but i think if the constipation gets too bad it may be the only way! Yikes
I'm so pleased about the lymph node reduction. Thats fantastic! I felt a reduction in my node within 12 hours! & my ear unblocked within a couple of days.
Got the ENT appointment today for my ear infection - at least, that's what i think it is *fingers crossed* Worried .
It started in one ear and is now in the other! Can't hear a thing Banghead
Keep me posted Angie!
Michelle

Sounds like it is an infection because it has transferred to the other ear, if it was anything else it wouldn't be in both ears would it.

Will be thinking of you. Good luck

Angie
